Ground Blind Chair Buying Guide

What is a hunting blind chair?

A hunting blind chair is the seat that a hunter uses to position him or herself inside the ground blind to be ready when the animal is in sight.

What are the benefits of a hunting blind chair?

Without a chair, the other option is to stand, which usually doesn’t work well inside ground blinds, or sit on the ground. Oftentimes, the windows of the ground blind are positioned too high to allow the hunter to shoot while sitting on the ground.

The benefits of using a chair while hunting in a blind include the following:

  • Be better prepared when the animal is in sight
  • Give your back support throughout the day of hunting
  • Be comfortable and enjoy the hunt better

How to choose the right hunting chair?

With so many options on the market these days, picking the best hunting blind chair for your can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to. Take these aspects into consideration when purchasing your blind chair:

  • Back support: Sitting for long periods of time can be destructive on your back, so I HIGHLY recommend picking a chair that caters to a strong back, rather than doing damage now and getting that good chair later
  • Swivel: I 100% recommend getting a chair that gives you a 360 degree swivel. If you hunt with friends, it’s a pain to twist your neck when you talk, and it’s just plain hard to sit that still for the hours that we go hunting
  • Weight: If you hunt at a location where you carry your supplies for a long distance, the weight of your pack is crucial. Remember to consider the added weight that a chair will bring
  • Weight capacity: Big guys need chair that can support the weight. As you’ll see in the reviews, I’ve included the weight capacity of the chairs to make sure you don’t end up sitting on the ground

Best Chair for Value Buyers

Pros

Cons

The Hawk Stealth is the best ground blind hunting chair for the value-conscientious buyer.

If you’ve ever hunted in a ground blind before, you’ll know that the man with the good chair is the smartest hunter, period. Sometimes, you’ll go out hunting with some buddies, and there’s always one person who claims they don’t need a chair or the bring a cheap rig and always regret it later in the day.

The Stealth by Hawk did a great job engineering a chair that provides the support for those who want the highest amount of functionality at a great price.

You’ll get the shot of your choice with this 360-degree swivel ability. We haven’t heard a noise from it yet, as this chair is totally silent. I’ve heard others say it will become noisy after many uses, but all you have to do is put some oil between the hinges if that happens.

Oftentimes, hunters hang their bows or set them next to their chair as they wait to see their target. What you’ll enjoy with this seat are the arm rests of the chair. I have heard from some hunting buddies who use this chair that the arm rests became loose, and if that happens, you’ll have to tighten the screw.

What Makes This Chair Great

  • Stealthy spin, rotates effortlessly 360-degrees silently
  • Contoured mesh comfort for luxury seating, pressure point relief and breathable, durable fabric
  • Easy Transport folds flat for compact carry with included Sling
  • Secure and stable with large, pivoting feet keep chair stable and from sinking into ground
  • Heavy-duty steel tubing and powder coating

Who’s This Chair Best For?

Best for the hunter who wants the bells and whistles at an amazing price!

The Black Sierra Nitro Pro XL is the best ground blind hunting chair for your back.

This chair deserves an A+ for all around excellence. Great for your back, big enough even if you’re a big guy, and silent as the night with a 360-degree swivel ability.

If I’m picking a ground blind chair, I’m getting this one, hands down.

The other chairs in this list all have their advantages, but the Nitro Pro XL is the best all around. Using this chair will allow you to sit comfortably for hours at a time as you wait for the 10-point to pass by.

At 18 pounds in weight, this definitely isn’t the lightest chair in the list, and for that reason, it was listed as the best chair on the market in this review.

With the cup holder, I certainly enjoy knowing I don’t have to put my drink on the ground and worrying about it being spilled.

  • Heavy duty powder coated XL steel frame, 300lb weight rating
  • Whisper quiet 360° swivel functionality

Cons

The Redcamp chair is the best ground blind hunting chair for big guys.

This chair offers sturdy X-shaped support frame to keep you in one place well. The padded arm-rests are rather nice and provide more comfort while you’re sitting. At under 10 pounds in weight, this is a very easy hunting chair to transport.

As an additional benefit, the Redcamp designers have included convenient side pockets to access your drink and personal belongings quickly and easily.

Best Chair for the Money

Pros

Cons

This Tripod stool is the best ground blind hunting chair for the money.

Sometimes you want a something that’s priced cheap, and doesn’t suck. That’s all you want. The product works well, doesn’t have added features that the competition has, but it allows you to do what you need to. If that’s the case, this tripod is a wonderful pick.

For its size, it’s a bit on the heavy side, but overall it’s a well-constructed hunting seat. You’ll have to find your own way to carry it, because this seat doesn’t come with its own carrying bag.

This tripod seat allows for a 360-degree rotation for shooting at the angle that you want. It does fold up easily, which is a benefit as well.

What Makes This Chair Great

  • Padded seat and back rest
  • Quiet 360 degree smooth-gliding swivel
  • Height adjusts from 17.5″ to 31″

Most Lightweight Hunting Chair

Pros

Cons

This Redcamp 2-pack the most lightweight ground blind hunting chair.

Originally created as a camping chair, this 2-pack of chairs has become popular with hunters taking chairs into the blinds.

It should be known that these chairs are quiet small, and that’s partly to do with their popularity for the ground blind. This is especially the case if you hunt from a small blind.

These chairs are great for children, women, and smaller men. If you’re taller than 6 feet, this chair might hurt your knees after a long day in the hunting blind.

What Makes This Chair Great

  • Easily install or fold up the tripod camping stool within seconds
  • Convenient to carry around with the velcro shoulder strap
  • The portable camping stool set of 2 pack provides a quick place to sit for you and your partner

Best for the hunter who values a lightweight chair, and also a great option for women, children, and shorter men.

Cons

Versatile, comfortable, easy to transport and comfortable to sit in. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the price is a steal! This is the best cheap hunting chair that can be used in the ground blind, out for camping, or simply an durable chair for the back porch.

Although this chair doesn’t offer swivel capability, it would make a good chair for the beginner hunter who is looking for a cheap option to sit on.
